Piano queen LP Giobbi is back with a collaborative effort on her imprint, where she embraces the power of yes.

LP Giobbi has channeled the power of saying yes in her life, both musically and professionally. The DJ, producer, pianist, label boss, activist, and entrepreneur’s label VA compilation debut, We Say Yes Vol. 1, has arrived on her imprint, Yes Yes Yes, and it embraces that philosophy one thousand percent.

Landing on Defected Records, this seven-track effort features LP Giobbi as the driving force. Other musical visionaries add eclectic contributions in line with the sonic lineage of the compilation and the label.

“Our debut label compilation ‘We Say Yes’ celebrates the original spirit of raving. ‘We’ highlights unity and inclusivity on the dance floor while ‘Yes’ emphasises the power of positivity and optimism, connecting to the Yes Yes Yes ethos. We want our label output to contribute towards the community aspect that made the early days of dance music so special. The compilation focuses on showcasing timeless sounds in house and rave music’s history…”

The album opens with “Natura Umana,” an upbeat, classic tune that sees the piano queen collaborate with accomplished guitarist and producer Alex Kennon. It’s nostalgic while still sounding new and fresh. Next up is rising artist EMJIE‘s club anthem “Hurt Me No More.” A house song with deep drums and rolling synths, it’s ’90s vibes all the way.

Frequent collaborators Inda Jani and Ghezz join forces for the next track, “Richman.” The disco-funk flair and lush synthesizers remind me of a revamped and modernized “Funkytown” beat. The duo Fundido added their own touch to LP Giobbi’s “Take My Hand,” adding a more atmospheric, drum-driven beat. Meanwhile, Washington DJ and producer Baby Weight keeps things funky with a little piano on her chunky beat, “Feral.”

Disfreq and mOat reimagined Kate Bush’s “Running Up That Hill” into a melodic techno masterpiece, while Berlin producer and vocalist JOPLYN closes out the compilation with the aptly titled “Fired Up.” Featuring his own vocals, this catchy, high-energy techno track is perfect for the dancefloor.

We Say Yes Vol. 1 achieves exactly what LP Giobbi and these artists set out to do. It creates a unique and eclectic listening experience full of both nostalgia and forward-thinking dancefloor hits.
